A collaboration Platform for Mangaka Around the World
The service name DouDoujin is a combination of two Japanese words: "堂々: DouDou" and "同⼈: Doujin." "堂々: DouDou" translates to “confidently, boldly, openly” in English. On the other hand, "同⼈: Doujin" is derived from the combination of "同: Same" and "⼈: Person," meaning "a gathering of like-minded individuals." "同⼈活動: Doujin Activity" refers to creative activities by people with shared interests or values, a concept similar to “fandom” in English.
In Japan, fan-made derivative works of popular titles are sold at events like Comic Market, but this exists in a legal gray area, as it occurs with tacit approval but lacks clear copyright permissions. Some derivative works may also risk damaging the original creator's worldview, which gives "同⼈活動: Doujin Activity" a reputation as a shadowy, hidden practice in contrast to the boldness implied by "堂々: DouDou."
At DouDoujin, we aim to create an environment where derivative works can be done “堂々,” with formal permission from the original creators and clear copyright management. By doing so, we facilitate collaborative synergies between fan creators, voice actors, translators, Vtubers, and other surrounding creators. This allows the original works to grow as IPs (intellectual properties) that foster active communities.
Not only the Original Author, bur Voice Authors will also be paid according to the number of views and listens.
The top page design focuses not only on the original manga creators but also on the derivative work creators.
When sales occur for paid derivative works, the original creator will also receive a share of the revenue according to the rate specified at the time of registering their work.
